Stepping onto Fliteboard's new Series 5, what strikes you isn't sound – it's silence. Their groundbreaking Flite Jet 2 propulsion system, developed with Mercury Marine and standard across the new lineup, combines mechanical precision with streamlined hydrodynamics to deliver significantly more range per charge. This “whisper-quiet”, fully-enclosed motor transforms the entire eFoil experience into pure, uninterrupted aquatic meditation.
We had the opportunity to test Series 5 on the pristine waters surrounding Scotland Island in Australia's Hawkesbury River. Conditions were idyllic with mirror-calm water and brilliant sunshine; the perfect canvas for experiencing Fliteboard's latest innovation. We rode the 67L Fliteboard PRO board with the aluminum 80cm mast, Flite Jet 2 propulsion, Flitecell Nano battery and Wave 850 C front wing. It’s a great setup for both crisp carving and exploring the harbor.
When you ride Series 5 for the first time, you'll notice that the familiar hum of previous generations has vanished, replaced by an almost supernatural silence as you rise effortlessly above the water. With ample power at your fingertips, only nature's soundtrack will fill your ears – water trickling across the foil, kookaburras calling from nearby trees, and waves lapping against the shoreline. With a toy like this, getting in-sync feels automatic; you’re no longer riding through nature, you’re simply becoming a part of it.
The Series 5 lineup showcases the new jet design with Fliteboard's classic favorites: the versatile flagship Fliteboard (100L/173cm), the more maneuverable PRO (67L/152cm), and the high-performance ULTRA series (57L/132cm). The collection also includes the revamped Flite AIR, Flitescooter, and of course the exclusive Marc Newson collaboration.
Design excellence is evident in every aspect of Series 5. A fresh color option provides personalization while maintaining the brand's distinctive identity. The range of aluminum and carbon masts in various lengths and configurations ensures versatility for all riders. Flite’s new conical wing interface also enhances cross-compatibility between boards and wings, speeding up swap-outs and more importantly guaranteeing seamless integration with upcoming FLITELab* products. This consistency in platform also opens the door for eFoil riders to access the newest performance wings for crossover disciplines of riding, which are continuing to emerge as eFoil technology becomes increasingly compact. It’s clear that Fliteboard’s diverse Series 5 lineup caters to every segment of the foiling world, from first-time flyers to competitive athletes, casual weekend warriors to luxury enthusiasts.
Racing around the island at speeds approaching 20mph, weaving between moorings and riding passing boat wakes, the Fliteboard with Flite Jet 2 responded intuitively. Throttle control and take-off felt smoother than ever, and the conical connection system impressed with its rock-solid stability and direct feel through turns. After a 40-minute journey, the Flite Controller display showed a mere 15% battery depletion (remember we were using their smallest Nano battery), backing up Fliteboard's claim of enhanced range, and suggesting an untapped potential for extended explorations on the water.
Navigating the harbor's hidden coves, a natural rhythm developed as Flite Jet 2 transformed what was a simple lunchbreak eFoil session into an adventurous escape from routine. This Series 5 technology doesn't just improve upon Fliteboard's previous offerings, it fundamentally changes the experience of flying and engaging with your environment, setting a new standard for eFoil performance.
