AFS Silk V2 750

Designing a successful foil is one thing. Improving it without losing its identity is something else. The original AFS Silk quickly became one of the brand's most popular foils thanks to its intuitive handling and incredibly smooth carving characteristics. With the Silk V2, AFS wasn't trying to reinvent the concept. Instead, they focused on refining every aspect that made the original so enjoyable.

After several sessions on the 750 paired with the new 80cm UHM Slim mast, one thing became immediately obvious: The Silk V2 didn't impress me by being more extreme than the V1 but by making me feel comfortable enough to push harder and harder. From the very first take-off, the foil feels remarkably balanced. There is no nervousness, no unpredictable lift, no tendency to surprise you. Instead, the foil immediately delivers a reassuring sensation of control. It's one of those foils that lets you focus on the wave rather than constantly thinking about your foot position or weight balance. That confidence becomes the defining characteristic throughout the entire session. Carving is definitely the highlight word of this foil. The first generation was already known for its fluid rail-to-rail transitions, but the V2 feels even more composed. Every turn feels natural. The foil rolls progressively onto the rail, holds its line beautifully and maintains pressure all the way through the carve. Most importantly, it never feels like it's about to let go. Even when increasing the load mid-turn, the front wing remains predictable and composed. That confidence allows you to attack sections harder and carry noticeably more speed through linked turns. Rather than feeling loose or overly playful, the Silk V2 always feels planted. And that's exactly what makes it so enjoyable.

One of the biggest surprises during my test was the usable speed range. The low end is excellent. Even in weaker waves, the 750 generates enough lift to get flying early without demanding aggressive pumping. For surf foiling, that's a huge advantage. The foil stays flying comfortably at surprisingly low speeds while remaining extremely controllable. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the high-end is equally impressive. As speed builds, the foil never becomes intimidating. Instead, it simply keeps accelerating while maintaining the same composed feeling. That wide operating window makes the Silk V2 incredibly versatile across changing conditions.

The slightly higher aspect ratio compared to the original Silk brings a noticeable improvement in glide. Connecting waves becomes easier. Small pumps translate into efficient forward movement rather than wasted energy. It's not a dedicated pumping foil, nor is it trying to compete with ultra-high-aspect downwind designs. Instead, it strikes an excellent balance between efficiency and maneuverability. Exactly what most surf foilers and wingfoilers are actually looking for.

AFS has managed to preserve everything riders loved about the original while making it glide further, carve cleaner and inspire even more confidence. In today's market, where many foils seem designed to push performance at any cost, the Silk V2 reminds us that confidence is often the biggest performance upgrade of all. For me, it's one of the most complete surf-oriented foils currently available and a benchmark for riders who value flow, precision and control above all else.
