North go BIG with the launch of their 2025 Freeride and Surf Wingfoil Collection.
There’s a certain magic in the way that North has engineered its 2025 Freeride Collection to navigate the ocean with an unbridled sense of adventure. Introducing the new Nova and Nova Pro, ShiftLock handles and Midi mid-length crossover – ready – for anything, anywhere, any time.
A balanced, easy-to-use all-round wing, engineered with a GripLock Carbon Boom for lighter, faster, and more intuitive handling and super smooth transitions. The lightweight, high-strength carbon composite boom handle is pre-installed on your Nova, and packs down to fit inside the custom recycled-polyester wing bag.
“The Nova gets you up and gliding with minimum effort. For 2025, we’ve refined the profile, reducing the LE diameter to create a lighter weight, more agile, and streamlined wing with reduced drag, better upwind angles, and faster acceleration with less pumping,” says Wing Designer, Dano See. “Our North exclusive Carbon UDi Technology now runs inside the entire LE, helping to maintain airframe stiffness.”
Ideal for wave riding, the 2025 Nova has neutral lift through all angle of attack changes. Most of the lift is created in the centre part of the wing which reduces the amount generated by the tips, lowering the wing’s sensitivity to oscillation and helping you to maintain a stable, neutral position when you’re trailering.
Light in your hands and efficient upwind, North has engineered the 2025 Nova Pro with advanced materials and balanced tensioning for a precise response in all conditions – whether you’re carving ocean swells, boosting or freestyling. The Nova Pro is powered by a Hybrid N-Weave45 Airframe and Hybrid Matrix N-HTRS Canopy. It features North’s high-tensile UPE N-Weave45 material in the strut and the LE centre segment, for stiffness where you need it. The N-Weave45 gives the wing a crisp input response, while more forgiving Dacron wing tips twist off nicely during freestyle manoeuvres or wave riding. The stiffer Matrix canopy is essential because the loading increases with the more rigid airframe. The Matrix material contributes to the Nova Pro's high-end stability, and increases the wind range, while the lighter N-HTRS canopy material section enables less tension in the front for a cleaner entry profile. Due to a new radial panel layout for 2025, North has increased the proportion of the Matrix Canopy, for greater torsional strength.
“The stronger material gives your wing canopy greater structural integrity for longer, so it can maintain its designed shape over time, especially in overpowered conditions,” explains Dano. The Nova Pro has the ShiftLock proven modular track mounting system, and North has introduced two new handle options for riders in 2025. The 950mm Boom, recommended for wings 3.5m and under, and the new ergonomic front handle – the 400 J-Handle, designed to help alleviate wrist and elbow strain. Handles are ordered separately to the wing, and all 2025 Wing bags are sized to accommodate a wing fitted with a boom.
Crafted for on-water efficiency and fast transitions onto foil, our new mid-length wing/surf crossover board has an optimal length-to-width ratio for glide and manoeuvrability, medium rocker easy pump to foil, narrow displacement hull design for speed and stability, and softer, more rounded rails for barely noticeable, catch-free touchdowns through turns. Engineered in full carbon technology with PVC wrap, the new Midi is lightweight, responsive and direct, with maximum strength and impact resistance. The Midi is also 4gHz signal-optimised for Foil Drive connectivity.
North Foilboard Shaper Jaimie Scott is hooked: “The MIDI has taken over as my quiver. I ride the 5’4 | 60 L. and it's my go-to for pretty much everything. You can just catch the waves effortlessly. It's amazing for upwind downwind with a wing, and it's also a great prone board for when the waves are grovelly or if the swells big and fast moving. It's an amazing board all-round for an intermediate to advanced rider.”
