Twenty-four hours of daylight did nothing to warm Lofoten’s waters. At the edge of the Arctic Circle, the usual rhythm of day and night disappeared. With no first or last light to work around, the forecast became the only schedule that mattered. Sessions began at 23:00, at midnight, or whenever a window opened. When one did, every piece of gear – from wetsuit and harness to boots and gloves – determined how much we could make of it.
