Introducing the TakeOff Evo by Manta Foils

Here's the latest evolution of Manta Foils' powerful and low maintenance universal foil-assist system – The TakeOff  Evo. Let's take a closer look…

The TakeOff Evo is the latest foil assist system from Manta Foils, and the culmination of over 20 years of hydrofoil design expertise. It is an ultra-light, compact kit that mounts on any standard foil board and gives riders motorized assistance for takeoffs, wave catching, upwind runs, and even full eFoil sessions.

Starting at just 4.5 kg in its lightest configuration with a body only 13 cm wide, the Evo is built around a revolutionary fully enclosed hybrid motor that delivers 3,500W and 35 kg of thrust—50% more power than the previous generation. The enclosed design means no exposed bearings or rotors to maintain: a 10-second freshwater rinse is all it takes after a session.

What truly sets the TakeOff Evo apart is its unmatched air travel capability. The Air batteries are composed of swappable 97 Wh sub-packs—well under the 100 Wh airline limit—assembled in sets of two to form a 194 Wh unit. Because each sub-pack is individually compliant, you can carry up to 4 full battery sets per passenger, giving you 4 x 30 minutes of ride time in your luggage. This makes the Evo the only foil assist system in the world that lets you travel by air with multiple batteries. While competing brands restrict you to a single battery set per flight, the Evo ensures your sessions don’t stop after just one ride—making it the ultimate travel companion for foiling trips.

The system supports two battery types—Air (194 Wh) and Endurance (518 Wh)—that can be mixed and matched for ride times ranging from 15 minutes up to 70 minutes. Each battery features its own individual Battery Management System for enhanced safety.

The advanced GPS-enabled remote control features rider profiles from beginner to advanced, a 10-level gear system to limit power output, real-time battery monitoring, session logging, and an instant lock function for safety. A companion mobile app allows firmware updates, session tracking, and upcoming global leaderboards.

Accessories include integrated masts in aluminum or full UHM carbon (made in partnership with AFS), a carbon Trench board produced in Portugal by Appletree Manufacturing, and the Manta Backpack—a patented wearable system compatible with most foil assist systems made for a 90mm track (including Foil Drive)—that relocates the power unit off the board for a weightless, ultra-agile ride.

The TakeOff Evo brings genuine innovation to the foil assist category. Here are the key differentiators:

  • Airline travel with your kit — batteries built from 97 Wh sub-packs (under the 100 Wh airline limit), carry up to 4 full sets per passenger (4 x 30 min of ride time). The only foil assist you can travel with in multiples.
  • Ultra-light setup & narrow body — from 4.5 kg only, 13 cm wide. Better carving, easier pumping, reduced drag.
  • High power motor — 3,500W / 35 kg thrust. Supports heavier riders or smaller boards/wings for faster foiling.
  • Unique enclosed motor — fully sealed, no bearings to maintain. 10-second rinse = done. Low maintenance.
  • Any battery combination — from 194 to 712 Wh. Mix Air and Endurance batteries for the ride time and weight you want.
