Introducing the new Slingshot Proto Craft 001

Limited Edition is the new thing and Slingshot is showing us how dedicated they are to the cause: individual pieces for riders seeking something of their own. 

The Proto Craft 001 is a purpose built SUP foil board designed to get you up on foil faster and with less effort so you can save your energy for what really matters: ripping turns and connecting waves. Its hybrid displacement-to-planning hull is shaped to minimize drag and accelerate cleanly through all three phases of takeoff, allowing intermediate to expert riders to match swell speed sooner and get on foil with ease. A concave deck and balanced volume distribution underfoot improve stability while paddling, making it easier to stand and control in bumpy conditions. Paired with our variable-density full sandwich construction, the board stays under 12 pounds without compromising strength, giving you a more responsive ride with less swing weight once you're foiling.

BEHIND THE DESIGN

“The design objective for this board was to find a low-drag shape that felt quick through the displacement phase, easy in the planning phase, and effortless to rotate for takeoff. We achieved that through a board that has a very low rocker, along with a bottom shape that transitions from a displacement mode in the front third to a stable, flat planning surface on the rear half.

The volume distribution was optimized to add stability when standing on the board.

This board allowed me to ride the foils I wanted to ride on any given day, instead of having to size up to help me take off. The light construction, especially near the front of the nose, made me forget I was on a 7'6″ board when I was turning. I hope customers get as much excitement out of this board as I do!”
