The water sports world is eagerly awaiting the joint start of the season in Düsseldorf. From 21 to 29 January 2023, boot Düsseldorf will once again open its doors on the traditional date at the beginning of the year. The good news for exhibitors and visitors: the fair is on a safe course. Ticket sales have just started, and visitors are looking forward to their annual opening in the Rhine metropolis. The spotlight is on surfing, which is right at the heart of boot Düsseldorf 2023 with its new home in Hall 17.
“The move of surfing into the visitor circuit of boot Düsseldorf is a real benefit for exhibitors and visitors. It contributes to even greater contact with potential surfers and makes it possible to attract a new and young audience,” boot Düsseldorf Director Petros Michelidakis is pleased to say. The attraction in Hall 17 will be the large 1-meter-deep pool. In recent years, boot Düsseldorf had made a name for itself as a trendsetter in surfing with the first standing wave in an exhibition hall. In the meantime, however, indoor wave surfing has spilled over into many areas, so boot Düsseldorf is once again discovering and promoting new water sports with the XXL pool as an ideal homeport.
The exhibiting companies and associations are excited about this new development, because great product presentations on the new pool will whet the appetite of spectators and participants to set off for new horizons. boot Düsseldorf 2023 puts the trendy topic of wingfoiling in the limelight: Clear the stage for wingfoiling! The XXL pool is the new action center of the surf sport, which has once again increased in depth for this purpose. Almost silently, 34 wind machines will ensure that the best wingfoilers in the world can demonstrate their spectacular skills in Düsseldorf during the nine days of the fair.
The pool thus becomes the water stage for the current number one trend in water sports. At the same time, the manufacturers will be showing their latest product developments at their stands, explained in detail by the experts and the athletes. In the large wingfoiling focus, there will also be answers to the current high demand for information on the side of the beginners. Visitors can find out about the training courses, equipment and get tips for the most attractive national and international waters and destinations.
Of course, the classic windsurfing, SUP and kite topics will also be comprehensively represented with product presentations, new boards, sails, kites, equipment and accessories. Show interludes, award ceremonies and interviews with the stars and starlets of the scene ensure a cool and dynamic stage program at boot Düsseldorf 2023.
The Düsseldorf show program offers surfing in all its facets: In addition to the popular wakeboard show, the SUP sprint race and the tow-in windsurfing show, a daily wingfoil show now also entertains the audience. On the one hand, it is about demonstrating how to fly elegantly over the water with the board. On the other hand, the show provides good insights into the enormous variety of this fascinating trend sport. And, if you want to hold your wing in the wind, you are cordially invited to do so at a dry run on the simulator in hall 17 of boot Düsseldorf.

For all those who want to take the plunge on the foil, boot Düsseldorf offers a special treat: The Association of German Water Sports Schools (VDWS) awaits newcomers to its popular Surf Academy on the wingsurf simulator. Here, the curious can take the wing in their own hands and learn to steer for the first time on a moving panel. The top offers of the world's largest water sports school association also include the popular beginner seminars. These include training on the windsurfing simulator on the subjects of strap and harness riding and units on the kite simulator, which allows young and old players to overcome gravity for a brief moment and be pulled up into the air together with the board on their feet. Registration for this takes place directly at the VDWS stand in Hall 17.
In January 2023, boot Düsseldorf will once again be the hub for active beginners and intermediates in all surf sports. Stand-up paddling, wakeboarding and skimboarding are also on the daily program for visitors. They can gain their own first experiences in a wide variety of surfing sports in Hall 17. You don't have to bring your own wetsuit, but you can, as rental suits are only available in limited numbers.
The wide range of brand manufacturers is aimed at all surf sports enthusiasts. Well-equipped in this way, there is maximum fun waiting in the shopping spree in Hall 17. Additionally, hot travel tips will make you look forward to the sport in the warmer season: together with selected schools, the VDWS presents tailor-made offers for surf trips in home waters as well as abroad at boot Düsseldorf. You can rely on this at boot Düsseldorf: Internationally renowned professional surfers and World Cup stars feel in their element at the fair. Cracks like the Swiss “Wing Thriller” Balz Müller, 42-time windsurfing world champion Bjørn Dunkerbeck, Lina Erpenstein, who has just become the proud third at the Wind Surf World Cup Sylt, and many other well-known players set course to Düsseldorf for the start of the season. At the microphone and in personal conversations, they will reveal where they spend their winter training, who is currently testing and training with whom and what challenges the 2023 regatta calendar has to offer. In an exotic South Seas atmosphere, the first soft beats will start to play in the hall 17 from 5 p.m. and invite you to one of the cocktail bars.
