Keahi De Aboitiz: Hawaiian powder (with Nathaniel Fisher)

Keahi De Aboitiz tells us all about that deeeeelicious clip he dropped on Facebook some weeks back…

Foiling has exploded onto the scene lately and for good reason. It’s the perfect tool to make the most of average waves and for me as well as lot of others, its the perfect surf trip saver if the normal waves are busy or the swell just isn’t quite doing it. It's weird to think about, but you actually need to completely recalibrate what you think a good wave is with foiling as it turns your average mushburger into an all time session giving you that similar rush you’d find surfing good waves. It’s one toy I can’t leave out of my bag on a trip and with the addition of a jetski it opens it up even more.

Thanks to the low drag of a foil, you can whip in early turning a swell into the oceans version of a snowboarding powder run. This session was really special. No wind, perfect lumps and minute plus long rides set on the beautiful mountainous backdrop in Hawaii. In this clip I’m riding a proto for the NeilPryde small wing and a proto JP tow foil board which is perfect for some faster moving swells. Although the small wing doesn’t work as well in small waves, it's perfect for these types of waves as it handles speed better and allows you to keep up with the swell. Good times and I cant wait for more!
