Can you summarize what you do?
Global Foil Expeditions (Foil-X) is an international tow foil adventure company specialising in all-inclusive luxury foiling vacations at destinations around the world. Our team of jet ski pilots pride themselves in providing the highest level of service to our guests in and out of the water. The ride of your life is waiting for you and we have made it our goal to turn your day dreams into dream days.
Where are you based and when were you established?
Foil-X was established in 2019, although our founders have been operating all-inclusive surfing and fishing vacations since 2002 in Central America. Tow foiling became a natural evolution of our program after years of tow surfing and jet ski water patrol safety for professional surf competitions. Now we are able to operate in a variety of locations utilizing our skills as pilots and watermen to provide an experience second to none.
Where are most of your clients from?
Our clients hail from a large variety of locations across the United States. Some have extensive ocean surf foiling knowledge, but many are experienced wakefoilers who want to take their game to the “big lake” for the first time.
How long have you and your team been foiling?
We have been foiling for about seven years. Our co-founder James Jenkins was an early adopter in the heyday of foiling’s birth to the global stage. He is regarded as one of the top foilers in the world, has graced the cover of Foiling Magazine multiple times, and is a team rider for Armstrong Foils.
What makes you special compared to other foiling businesses?
After over 23 years of hosting all-inclusive surf and fish vacations, our team is dedicated and committed to the highest level of service and hospitality. Getting our guests amazing waves is only part of the equation. We want them to have an epic experience and forge lifelong friendships with them. Adventure travel forms a genuine bond with people that just cannot be created any other way. We love stoking people out and have committed our lives to being “stoke-brokers”. At the end of the day when we celebrate an amazing sunset and see the smiles on our guests’ faces, we know we are doing what we were put on this earth to do.
Can you talk us through some special moments from your most recent trip/season?
It is really hard to pin down any one or two special moments. For us when we see a guest’s mind explode after getting a huge wave that rolls for hundreds of yards, there really is no better feeling. After spending so many years catching waves for ourselves, it somehow feels even better getting them for somebody else. Our never dying passion for exploration has been fulfilled by having a means to travel and share that with our guests who quickly become our extended family.
Anything special lined up for the next few months?
We have an epic week slated for Namotu Island in Fiji in early 2025. The guests we have booked are now lifelong friends and are an unreal crew of savage riders. Definitely looking forward to that adventure. We are also partnered up with Pelorus International so we can provide our services on the most luxurious yachts in the world. Being based off a yacht for a foiling expedition is the ultimate way to go!
