Armstrong: The Future of Foiling

A double bill from Armstrong here, who recently released the news that they're working with SailGP on the T-foil tips for the race boats – further evidence that the future of foiling is dynamic, adaptive… and just bloody exciting really.


The history of foiling is marked by relentless discovery, wild ideas, and brilliant innovations. Who knows what the future will bring? All we know is, we're here for it.

 


Building the foil tips: After years in development, SailGP's T-foils made their debut at the New Zealand Sail Grand Prix in Auckland. These foils take the performance of the F50 foiling catamaran to new heights with sailing speeds approaching 100kph (60mph), and we're stoked to have built a component of these foils. As the Official Foil Tip Manufacturer for the 2025 season of SailGP's global racing championship, the composites manufacturing expertise we've accrued building our own foils is now being applied to the cutting-edge of hydrofoil sailboat racing.
