Armstrong A-Sessions: Zany Guy in Ceará, Brazil

When Cape Verde went flat, Zany Guy headed west and found the wind in Ceará, on Brazil’s northeast coast. He stayed a month.

The latest Armstrong A-Sessions follows him along that stretch with filmmaker Tiago Azzi as local guide. Stronger, mostly side-onshore wind and far smaller waves than home meant rethinking how he rode: Cape Verde is the wave paradise, Zany reckons, where Brazil is “more of a wind paradise”.

Taíba is where it lands. Glassy and windless first thing for surf foiling, then the wind filling in through the morning and the kit swapping over to a wing. Best of both, most days. Landscapes, sunrises and a fairly serious fresh coconut water habit filled the gaps.
