I’ve been using the FLITELab* system for just over two years. I’m a perfectionist and our last round of testing wasn’t quite up to our high standards so we are hoping the next round of prototypes are the final ones and we can go into production.

My preferred setup for the FLITELab* system is the 707 FLUX_Wing, the short fuse, 125 stab, 82 mast. Can’t go wrong with that.

We originally had a completely different system which was based on the original Fliteboard system. What we soon realized was that we needed to completely redesign that system to get the highest quality and performance from a foil system that would sit at the pointy end of the surf foil market. And boy did we nail that!

The main thing I’m looking for in an assist system is a quick boost to get me up and riding. Once I’m up, it’s easy enough to get around and the best thing about the AMPJet system is there’s no prop on the mast so no unwanted drag or hassle, which I found really frustrating when riding other assist systems.

If I’m riding the AMP, it’s definitely heavier than my prone setup, but what I’ve found is that because of that, the extra weight allows you to size up in foils without affecting maneuverability, so you get all the benefits of the glide and pump of the big wing, but it turns that bigger wing into a responsive surf weapon.

The FLITELab* system is a cheat code to downwinding. It’s the reason why I have never learnt to downwind SUP, still to this day, because I’ve been using it as my downwind board over the last two years!

My favorite feature of the FLITELab* system is the stiffness. It’s seriously so stable and responsive, you’ll think you’re riding the platform of a nine foot SUP, but with the agility of a performance surfboard.

I’ve literally ridden every prototype FLITELab* has made, from day zero. It’s been unreal to develop a whole system from scratch and come out with the best system on the market in my opinion – and I’ve ridden every system available for comparison.

I’ll change up the system depending on the conditions. When it’s tiny or I’m riding the AMP, I’ll use the 808 FLUX_Wing and if it’s fat but has some power, I’ll use the 707, and then if it’s shoulder high or bombing, I’ll use the 606.
