Although RRD team riders Camille, Ester and Pier spent the day together shooting the new RRD range, each enjoyed their own take on what turned out to be a pretty special session, with a very memorable sundowner…

CAMILLE BOUYER

I arrived in Cape Town with all the gear, ready to shoot, and it was super exciting to be back. The forecast looked good: some wind, some waves. We decided to go to Misty Cliffs where I think I’ve had some of my best ever wingfoil sessions with my brother over the last few years.

That day we got on the road and headed to the spot. After a long drive, the spot suddenly came into view. It’s always special when you arrive here, the landscape is crazy. White sands, blue waters and the mountains. It’s one of the most magical places I have ever seen.

At first the wind was not there, but the waves were. But not 10 minutes later we could feel the wind coming so it was time to prepare my setup for the session: the RRD Beluga 55L, Thunder 750 and Evolution Gold 4.5. My perfect combo for a light wind wave session. I was so excited, so I just prepped everything real fast and ran into the water. The wind was offshore – the perfect conditions to do some air grabs in the waves, some nice turns and also a little freestyle.

I really enjoyed sharing the waves with Pier, he’s a really cool waterman, and his sister Ester who is pushing forwards fast in wingfoiling. At the end of the session I was so hungry, but thankfully the team had sourced us some pizza. So that’s how we all finished the day… pizza in front of an amazing sunset. I’m pretty sure none of us will forget this day in a hurry.

PIER BIAGGI

The day started off pretty relaxed. The crew had arrived the day before, and the van was already packed full of gear, ready to go. Anyone familiar with the area knew that the unusual northwest forecast for Cape Town meant only one thing: epic conditions at Misty Cliffs. NW winds can be tricky, but if you know the right timing between tides and wind, you’re almost guaranteed a session to remember.

As soon as we arrived at the spot, it was clear that this was where we’d spend the day. We geared up immediately, rigging the new Evolution Wing Dacron and Gold, along with the Flying Fish foils. With this setup and the magic of the spot, the results came effortlessly.

Camille wasted no time, throwing a perfectly executed aerial grab as soon as he hit the water. From that moment, the session only got spicier – wave riding, freestyle, and an insane level of energy all around. The stoke was real, especially watching my sister, Ester, pushing harder on every single wave.

To wrap up the day, we did what any crew would after an unforgettable session – grabbed pizza and watched one of the most breathtaking sunsets in the world, at the most epic spot, with the best team imaginable.

ESTER BIAGGI

The day started early as we headed to Good Vibes Guest House, our meeting point with the rest of the team. Everything was set, the vans were loaded… or at least that’s what we thought. With excitement running high, we hit the road towards Misty Cliff, ready for a long day filled with photos, videos, action, adrenaline, and, most of all, fun.

Almost at the spot, we realized we had made a big mistake: the night before, in the rush to get everything ready, we had forgotten two of the most important boards. Without a second thought, my brother Edoardo and I drove three hours back to the kitehouse in order to pick them up. A hassle? Definitely. But absolutely worth it.

By the time we got back, Camille and Pier were already in the water, putting on a show with aerials, jumps, and epic wave riding. I couldn’t wait to join them. Pier and I got in with the new Beluga ML and Evolution, fresh out of the box, and started an in-the-water shooting, capturing every wonderful moment.

The day couldn’t have ended any better: as the guys have mentioned, there was pizza, and there was an incredible sunset. But there was also the feeling of having lived an unforgettable experience with the team of my dreams. But most importantly, with my brothers. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
