INBOUND – NeilPryde Waterwear
NeilPryde recently released a striking new range of wetsuits and highly functional water apparel that’s all designed to work in harmony, in the elements. Always looking to keep ourselves safe and warm in the water, we went hunting for further details…
This new collection marks something of a reunion for some of the NeilPryde team. Can you tell us a little about how that came about, and what that’s meant for the development of this range?
Yes, it really is a reunion in the best sense. After NeilPryde Limited’s original factory closed, we had to redevelop large parts of our range with new production partners – a long process that taught us a lot. But about two years ago, we reconnected with some of the original people who helped build the foundation of NeilPryde Waterwear. They now operate in a new facility, bringing back decades of experience and craftsmanship that perfectly align with our brand’s DNA. Working with them again means we can combine their deep understanding of our fit, materials, and performance philosophy with the latest technology and materials. It feels like the brand has come full circle – building on its roots, but with a fresh start.
There are some awesome sounding new materials in the range. What makes the latest neoprenes and linings stand out in terms of performance and comfort? And what’s the headline innovation in there?
We’ve really pushed every layer of the wetsuit to the next level. At the heart of the new range is our MSL Luxe Neoprene – an exceptionally soft and flexible material that redefines how a wetsuit should feel. After extensive testing in the factory, we found the perfect combination of premium neoprene and lamination to achieve the ideal balance of stretch, warmth, and durability.
What makes MSL Luxe Neoprene so special is that it remains incredibly supple even after the full production and lamination process – it doesn’t stiffen up. That means it’s easy to get into, comfortable to wear for long sessions, and provides reliable thermal protection and fast drying.
Inside, our new Neo Silk lining – as its name suggests – has an ultra-soft, silky touch. It’s our most flexible inner lining ever, letting your hands and feet glide smoothly into the suit while cushioning your skin against the neoprene. Combined with Tech Zag and Hotcell insulation panels that keep warmth exactly where you need it, these innovations create the most comfortable and performance-driven NeilPryde wetsuits we’ve ever made.

The Mission Eco suit is a clear highlight in the new range. What were the challenges in balancing sustainability with performance in this suit?
That’s always the big question – how to create an eco-friendly wetsuit that still feels and performs like a NeilPryde. With the Mission Eco, we’ve developed what we believe is the best possible balance between sustainability, warmth, and flexibility right now. The neoprene we use is made from 100% nature-based rubber, which is fully biodegradable, and we’ve combined it with water-based lamination adhesives to further reduce environmental impact. At the same time, we’re very aware that it’s not perfect yet – sustainability is a journey, and we’re committed to continuing to improve.

Our goal was to make meaningful progress without compromising performance. We combined this new neoprene with water-based lamination adhesives and our proven NeilPryde fit to ensure the same premium feel, elasticity, and warmth riders expect from us. The Mission Eco isn’t the final destination – it’s a step forward on a continuous path toward genuinely sustainable performance gear.
There’s also a dedicated women’s winter suit back in the range. What inspired the new Vamp fullsuit?
Over the past few years, we’ve seen a significant rise in the number of girls and women getting into water sports, especially winging, which has opened up a new level of accessibility and fun on the water. That’s why we strongly believe it’s time to give this part of the market the attention it deserves. We really wanted to create something for women that wasn’t just a smaller version of the men’s suits. The new Vamp Fullsuit combines functionality and style in a way that reflects how modern female riders approach their sport – strong, confident, and expressive.

The expansion of impact vests and accessories is notable. How do these products complement the wetsuit lineup and round out NP’s offering for cold-water riders?
Everything in the new collection is designed to work together. Our expanded impact vest range follows the same principles as our wetsuits – premium materials, smart fits, and purpose-driven design. We’ve introduced new colors and cuts for men, women, and kids, and for the first time, an eco-friendly impact vest that complements the Mission Eco wetsuit.
Then there will follow the Windfighter Hoodie and Stormchaser Jacket during the upcoming season, which extend warmth and comfort beyond the water. Add to that our range of base layers, gloves, beanies, and shoes, and you’ve got a complete cold-water system – from the first session to the last wave of the day.
NP has always had a reputation for warmth and durability. How have the construction methods evolved to improve longevity and feel?
We’re constantly refining how we build our suits. Aqua Glue, our water-based seam adhesive, delivers the same durability and watertight seal as traditional glues but without harmful solvents – making it better for both the planet and the people producing the suits.

From seam placement to panel shaping and material choice, every detail has been optimized for performance, comfort, and longevity. This combination of advanced materials and thoughtful construction ensures that NeilPryde wetsuits remain exceptionally warm, flexible, and durable – session after session.
There’s a clear aesthetic shift in the line-up too. How did you hit that balance between the NP heritage and a new, contemporary look?
NeilPryde has always been known for technical excellence, and we wanted the look of the new collection to reflect that – clean, confident, and purposeful. We’ve introduced more refined, toned-down colorways and modern design lines while staying true to the brand’s distinctive style. It’s about evolution, not reinvention – honoring our heritage while making sure NeilPryde feels as relevant and forward-looking as the riders who wear it.
